Jacob Jordaens 1593-1678, The Glory of Antwerp — Petit Palais, Museum of Fine Arts of the City of Paris, 2013
Through the loans of exceptional pieces, the retrospective at the Petit Palais attempted to restore Jordaens to its status of a glory of 17th century Flemish painting. An evocative scenography is based on the qualities of the painter's work which may seem contradictory: an obvious monumentality, in the formats and in the compositions, but also a great humanity in the treatment of the represented subjects.
