The exhibition presents forty magnificent alabaster statuettes - the mourners - from the tomb of John the Fearless, the duke of Burgundy. During the renovation of the tomb, these statuettes made a real tour of the United States and Europe. The Cluny Museum exhibition presented the final stage before their return to the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon.
These 15th century statuettes of great finesse and artistic value speak of the human condition and have a universal scope. The exhibition design proposes to discover them one by one in the configuration of a procession.
